We arent gonna agree and Ill leave that at that, but I feel that it shows respect for themselves. They earned that moment and should enjoy it how they see fit. The real world and your graduation are two different things, maybe thats the best way for them to remember college, a great time and leaving on a happy note instead of in a shirt and tie, burning up, sweaty and uncomfortable. It's just a matter of opinion. I have a good friend who makes good money, who graduated college and one of the requirements to where he works is that they wear flip flops.

I guess my assessment is the entire time in college, kids do what they want. Some totally are studious, some sneak by with the slimest of margins, or go on the Van Wilder plan.

I don't really see where its a big deal, I mean if the kids who were complete party animals or the ones who never went to class sober show up all prim and proper, everybody who knew them would think they were fakes and frauds and not acting like they were. After X number of years, why should they suddenly turn into something they aren't for a show?

well many majors in a liberal arts institution are useless without a masters degree. That seems more and more the case these days. This area in particular is a place where many degrees are useless. Its the only place in the world where you could have a phd and end up working at sykes.

If you are going to a liberal arts college, you can plan on one of 4 things : 1-You can go into teaching, 2-You can open a business, 3-You can go to grad school , or 4-You can take a job that requires no degree at all...cuz that is about the extent of what a liberal arts degree can do for you.

There is an excellent article in today's Post about the problems at PVHS in regards to the overall "attitude" of the students there. Very excellent reading. I commend Mr. Lee for his concerns about the problems there. He sounds like he is really earnest with his concerns about the problems there.
